last night the rain  was like
horses hooves on the roofs
this morning  a gentle rain is a
soothing refrain,we are surrounded
by gray clouds that will be with us
the rest of this week,so i will seek
rainy day activities easy to please

when the rain let up i went out for
a short walk just for some air
by the mist i was kissed, and i
imagined that what i could not see
was a very enchanting mystery
listning i heard a soft stir in the
silence, i fancied walking by a bog
in the London fog, then a clap of thunder

sent me back home as i continued to
wonder,if others made up vignettes
turned them into  poems ,as i did, that
were based on fact, but had  a lot of
enhancement,to enchant the reader
with  nature in all its grand varity, and
colorful disguise to please a poets eyes

I too have compared the sound of heavy rain to the sound of horses' hooves so I can relate, Eileen. Actually, I love the rain most of the time. Thank you. Love and best wishes,

Your lovely poem took me on your walk where the smells and rainy day sounds were all around...I love the rain and thunder storms, it will be a few months before I will hear them again

Storming rain should be experienced on the deck of a full rigger; the soft rain on a hot summer evening in the arms of a lover under a magnolia tree, "colorful disguised to please any poet eyes"

Eileen:

You always write so beautifully about what's natural. If everyone can see the wonders of the nature like the way you do, the world will be a more beautiful place to live in.

I absolutely love this piece!!!
