Amen and Thanks
I looked toward heaven
And I asked for God to hear
The problems churning inside my head
Leaving me miserable with anxiety and fear.
Then when I voiced the word amen
I knew I’d left something unsaid
I had forgotten to thank God
For the list of blessings I’d penned
Still lying on my bed.
I looked toward heaven again
Weighing my blessings against my complaints
Realizing the problems that I faced
Were nudges to remind me to say, “thanks”.
When I had voiced my gratefulness to God
For the blessings he had bestowed
I knew he would continue to bless me
Because of all the good seeds I’d sowed.
