A Fireman’s Job
Fighting fires was this fireman’s job, something he loved to do.
Risking his life with every new fire as his experience grew.
He had a wonderful loving family, a wife and child he adored.
He’d kissed them so soundly each day, as he left through the door.
He never knew what could happen in the dangers that lay ahead.
So he told them everyday how much he loved them, as left his bed.
Never in a million years did he realize what the job he loved would cost.
For while he was fighting a tragic fire, his family was burned and lost.
How much can one man give in doing for others each day?
How will he survive, with this loss and how much he had to pay?
He lost his beloved wife in that same fire and lost his precious son.
He will remember this great loss everyday, until his day is done.
He doesn’t realize of how many other lives he saved that day.
For his pain is too great, he is too deep in dismay.
He paid a heavy price when he left his family that morn.
If only he wouldn’t have gone that day, is why he’s so torn.
How many sacrifices our valiant firemen have given.
So these brave men can help us with our quality of living.
God bless you all, may he grant you peace and serenity.
For helping all others and for how much you've done for me.
