Marvin Gayes death was untimely and his musical prophecies are adequate today though he sung about todays problems forty years ago. I love the man met him personally and he was very inspirational in my life! I wrote this poem so his memory would live forever.

Leaves were green and Spring was sprouting,

coast to coast people were shouting.

The sparrow has fallen and gone away,

and took with him brother Marvin Gaye!

May was a very sad time of the year,

tornadoes, hurricanes people living in fear.

Our brother sung just like a bird,

people felt and believe his word.

A voice sent from heaven above,

the sparrow fallen here comes the dove.

Ascending high yes high in the sky,

for Marvin has looked in Jesus eye!

What tribulations trials in life,

at life's peak yet so much strife.

When God above his children call,

we're dressed with grace as we fall.

His dream I hope will live forever,

peace and love us sticking together,

drums so distant and so nigh,

as Marvin sings through out the sky.

What's going and Mercy mercy me!

the dancing poet

Hey Micheal, this is a great poem to one of the greatest singers ever.I love listening to Marvin Gaye.He was a deep brother who sung a lot about love and also problems. The song "What's going On" still is relevant today in terms of the type of world that we are living right now.Thank you for writing this poem.I enjoy reading it,take care

You have hit on two of my favortie themes, live cut short before it's time and the fact that "when a bird falls from the sky God notices." In Marvin Gaye we had both. God watched this songbird fall and scooped him up before he hit the ground.

Well written, Bobbi Duffy

Fantastic, endearing and beautiful. He was prophetic in thought which transferred over to his music and was never really given the recognition that he truly deserved. A most endearing piece in his memory....

Be always safe,
Karen
