september eleventh two thousand and one
the memories of that day still leave me numb
the images burned forever in my mind
how i wish i could erase them and rewind
the planes crashing into the world trade towers...
smoke and flames blooming like evil flowers...
another plane blasts into the pentagon...
and the evil just keeps growing on and on...
desperate people were jumping for their lives...
just trying to escape the terror inside...
a fourth plane crashing into an empty field...
the towers collapsing...in dust they're concealed...
too many loved ones lost...we're still asking "why??"...
those loved ones and heroes didn't have to die...
try as i might, can't get them out of my head
no one knows the tears i have silently shed
there have been times i awaken through the night
when i can't sleep...i get up and start to write
as you know, my Gift was given to me on 9/11.
if any good came out of this (and there wasn't
much), God gave me an unexpected blessing.
i've been given this Gift...it's my form of thera-
py. the best thing, it's free. :) i pray my Gift
is as much a blessing to others as much as
it has been to me...may i never lose it...amen.
(((HUGS))) and love, karla.
