“For man,

As for flower and beast and bird,

The supreme triumph is to be,

Most vividly, most perfectly,

Alive.”

D. H. Lawrence

Me and my marvelous mutts

Went on a little drive yesterday

We headed out to an old wetland

It’s a good place to hear groups play

I was looking for spring bird arrivals

My mutts are intrigued by bird sounds

Our timing, could not have been better

A new chorus of singers had just hit town

These boys had just flown in from Mexico

And they began singing when we got there

My dogs were real fascinated by their tune

It was soon echoing through the wetland air

These mellow fellows were wailin out a song

Trying to attract the attention of sexy females

Although the raspy voices of this happy group

To some, probably do sound like rusty old nails

We were listenin to a real joyous feathered choir

Members of the Yellow-Headed Blackbird Family

My dogs and I, are big fans of this group of singers

Our mellow yellow afternoon filled all of us with glee

“For man,

As for flower and beast and bird,

The supreme triumph is to be,

Most vividly, most perfectly,

Alive.”

PEEWEE - WELL DONE, LADDIE !!!

You remind me of the lyrics of an old tune - "The Old Lamp-Lighter" -

as he lit the streets for people to be able to see at night - you LIGHT the WAY to day-time's CREATIONS ... and all its WONDERS ...

Pax Tecum - Tom.

Spring has finally arrived. Oh happy day! I love to watch the various species of birds at our bird feeder. The other day we saw a Cardnial feeding its mate on the lawn by our oak tree. It was a splendid site ! Your poem captures the essence of spring quite well....M

I really like how you treated this, with "these guys" flying in from Mexico. You and your mutts know where to go, and when, to catch the best shows. The singing group is so dashing in those shining coats! You bring much sparkle to the wonder of nature.

Yes, they are a fascinating gang when they keep in the wild, because they are one with Nature, but as man are destroying more and more of their habitat they are forced to look for food near man.
You are as informative as ever, and we envy you, your pets, your flying friends, and the effort to keep every creature safe.
Thanks.
