Sonnet about forbidden love.

Crushed velvet blanket caresses my bare skin.
With you lying next to me, I tremble.
How can I love thee and commit a sin?
Love that enthralled us now is in limbo.
My body and youth were promised away
to another man, I would love never.
(Why I cannot see you after today.)
Our worlds diverged when we were together.
Your station low and penniless tenders
no comfort nor home, but passion unmatched.
Bags are packed; our only option rendered.
We must love before our dreams are dashed.
Runaway past the mountains, past the sand;
exiled beyond for loving the wrong man.

The theme you express via your verses is a sad one but nonetheless real and not at all uncommon in this world/life. Thank you, Dawn. Love and best wishes to you,

Regis
