A Sad Song For Someone
I woke up this morning, your pillow was cold
Then I remembered what I had been told
An angel had called you and you could not refuse
Now I’m left all alone with this bottle of booze
But thank you sweet Jesus for the memories
Sometimes things just don’t turn out so well
Now all I have left are the memories
Without them I’d be living in Hell
You came into my life like a hurricane
You filled up my rivers with love
Every day filled with passion and happiness
Sent down from heaven above
But thank you sweet Jesus for the memories
Sometimes things just don’t turn out so well
Now all I have left are the memories
Without them I’d be living in Hell
You were funny and silly and beautiful
No one else will ever compare
All the love you provided now seems so one sided
How I wish I had treated you fair.
But thank you sweet Jesus for the memories
Sometimes things just don’t turn out so well
Now all I have left are the memories
Without them I’d be living in Hell
I’ll never forget the look in your eyes
When they gave you the terrible news
All too soon you were headed for paradise
From then on you had nothing to lose
So we danced through the night in a sweet embrace
Till the sunrise told us to rest
And we made love like tomorrow would only bring sorrow
Darling I now know that you were the best
But thank you sweet Jesus for the memories
Sometimes things just don’t turn out so well
Now all I have left are the memories
Without them I’d be living in Hell
I can never forget about this fairy tale
And lightning can never strike twice
We’ll be dancing together in eternity
When the good lord has turned out the lights
But thank you sweet Jesus for the memories
Sometimes things just don’t turn out so well
Now all I have left are the memories
Without them I’d be living in Hell
