Approaching darkness consumes the soft glow

Of fading daylight

Parting clouds portend the inevitable star show

Distant thunder murmurs softly, betraying a storm now passed

Air infused with sticky vapor

Chirping crickets keep time with bullfrogs along the shoreline

Challenging the hush of the steaming woods

Evening has begun

...This enigmatic time of day is captured expertly...The sounds and ambience of the evening are palpable...I also enjoyed the expectant tranquility of this poem...

I love the scents in the air after a refreshing rain. We've only had one day of rain since April here. This is most unusual and leaves me a little restless. Thanks for sharing the mood, Patrick. Love and peace to you,
