Uncut Version
This house is dirty with an uncut lawn
Walking nightmare, I watch the dawn
And wonder why life is so unfair
Emotionally, I barely get by
I’ve seen my troubles
I’ve had my own share
Then watched in pain
As my daughters got more of the same
Insane, I’ve always enjoyed the highs
But not what’s next - so crushed I want to die
Or just for a moment for time to stand still
I take my pills
I do what they say is right
It’s turned out bad so many times
Even with hard work and some insight
No, matter what I pray to the Lord
My God above, he must have heard
Because I’m still here and alive
But at such a cost I still wonder why
Seems life’s just that way, so I cry
As time flies by, I watch the steps my granddaughter takes
Looking at her future, I start to shake
And pray that she be spared
From the cold, lonely insane cares
That her mother and I fought over and sometimes shared
I don’t possess a crystal ball to see
How it will turn out, all of our destinies
So I leave you here as I mood cycle along
Going back to where I belong

Tender yet powerful in it's disclosure of the bare facts. Ramblings are often very cathartic. Well penned. J'nia

I don't think that anyone can argue that life isn't just pretty darned harsh for all of us a good share of the time. I share the in the comments about what a good, gutsy poem this is, Liz, but I also want you to remember His admonition, "Seek and you will find." Sometimes it takes only the smallest motion to take care of ourselves in our trials, only a little step of faith, and He meets us. I just wrote an article on how depression can be productive if you care to look at it--it's not depressing. I have hopes that it could help some other people.......Jerry

Liz old friend, you have more guts ans stamina than any four people I know. You already know you will find a way to get through everything that falls on you. I am back and can deflect as much as possible for an old friend. Just keep writing, no matter how dark it seems, keep the words falling. God hears you, he is the one dishing out the guts!

It takes a lot to write like this,I applaud you, and thank you for sharing. There are no magic answers,as you have discovred, but I do think that perservering in prayer for your grandaughter is the right thing to do,and surprisingly when your mind is off self ,you may start receiving some answers to your personal prayers.

Love and prayers,

Hi Elizabeth, The mood cycle will pass... but I always am amazed and say "My God above, he must have heard Because I'm still here and alive".
Thank you for sharing this... stay strong...

This is so easy for me to understand and empathize with, I had my young granddaugher all tonight and over a slight dissagreement with her parents on child raising I felt bad but knew it was not my call to butt in.
