Remember Christmas
Christmas is a wondrous time,
that magical time of year,
When lives are filled with family,
and friends we hold so dear.
Our homes, they twinkle and glisten,
decorations all aglow
As Santa and his reindeer
stand proudly in a row.
The streets are filled with shoppers,
bustling everywhere
Deck the Halls and Jingle Bells
are heard throughout the air.
Fragrances fill our homes,
gingerbread, berry and pine
The tree in the corner all adorned,
with lights that sparkle and shine
An abundance of packages under the tree,
beautifully wrapped with a bow
To fill all the wishes on everyone’s list,
we had to search high and low
Hours of baking those wonderful treats;
fruitcakes, cookies and pies
We need an assortment to share with our friends,
every color, flavor and size
Parties are those special events,
we look forward to all year
With Carols, food and laughter,
our days are filled with cheer
And don’t forget the mistletoe,
the element of surprise
When someone pecks you on the cheek
and makes a smile arise.
Yes, Christmas is that special time,
we anticipate all year
We put our best foot forward,
so Santa will know we are here.
But is all that important,
is that what Christmas is about?
Should presents be the reason,
we celebrate and shout?
What about that brightly lit star,
that shined for all to see
Was that for Santa and his deer
to search for you and me?
What about the heavenly angels
whose praises filled the sky
Were their melodious voices
meant for you and I?
What about the wise men,
with gifts of perfume and gold
What could be worth the journey
that they just had to behold?
What about the lowly manger,
a bed of straw and hay
Would you or I be willing
to sleep in that today?
What about that baby,
born on earth that night
Was there something extra special
that led others to that sight?
Jesus lived his life a pauper,
yet we need for not a thing
We aren’t worthy of our riches;
He was born to be the King.
His love is beyond measure,
His grace in abundant supply
His blood was spilled for you and me,
for He was born to die.
Yes, Christmas is a special time,
remember on that day
A babe was born in Bethlehem,
so He could provide a way.
Christmas is a time for gifts;
there’s no better place to start
Take the gift God has for you
and put Jesus in your heart.
Celebrate the birth of Christ,
love and trust Him and obey
God’s gifts just keep on giving,
‘cause we’ll live with Him someday.
So remember on that Birthday morn’,
when you look upon your tree
Remember to give thanks and pray,
it’s because of Him we’re free.
