He moves along with his swinging walk,
Four beats, synchronized, ears pricked forward,
His muscles taught, pregnant with potential energy,
His liquid eyes look ahead, always focused,
On the coming adventure, the excitement of the ride.
Like a metronome his hooves fall on the earth,
One-two, one-two, my body rises and falls in unison,
Like a crescendo his energy builds,
Waiting with patient excitement,
For the cue he knows is coming.
One, two, three and a pause,
We are together, both suspended above the earth.
His mane lifts and falls in rhythm,
And he draws in great breaths,
Surging forward with great power, embodied in greater grace.
And the essence of who I am,
Blends with that of my mount,
Euphoria overcomes me as, with my own hair flying behind,
I Release the reins, spread my palms to the sky,
And turn my face to the setting sun and to Venus rising.
