I was out last week with a friends young daughters and we had a great time but listening to them both talk and tell me of their lives, dreams, wishes, and problems made me realize that life is just a continuation...

Echoes of Youth

By: Fee

I talked to an echo of myself the other day

Heard the same dreams I once dreamt

I listened to the things I once used to say

And as I smiled at where the years went

The face of youth without wrinkle or care

I thought of the worries she’d not yet spent

She told me of the parties I once partook of

When booze and smoke both flowed free

Then she told me a little of her love-life

If a man she could have been the past me

Thirty years makes a hell of a difference

Yet the years have also been good you see

She asked if I had it all again to do over

What would in hindsight I’d differently do

I pondered that innocent question from her

She thought I’d offer some insight I knew

I told her I wouldn’t change anything at all

For the years only perfect us it’s true …

I listen to the younger people and smile too. They have so much to learn and so much to live. Nice Fee. Love the pic too. Getting ready for Santa I see.

That last line "For the years only perfect us itís true Ö" is so true. I think each of us are searching for that Holy Grail within us as we attempt to correct the problems in our path. (It's enlightning to be with younger folks and hear their view of the world around them.

All too true. I feel sixteen half the time but I know I'm not. Still, enjoying each day. . . that's what matters! e

Well done. I would have changed a few things but then, perhaps it is good that we cannot go back to change them. We'd change everything. Hugs, J'nia

Fee, what I would have done different? In retrospective maybe not a thing, but like Sinatra said "a few...but too few to mention"
When young, the world was a nasty bull and we had it by the horns, we were invincible and immortal, right?!

Many "mature" folk don't appreciate being around younger folk...such a pity; as in your poem, Fee, it allows us to once again merge with our youth! I so enjoy your final two lines. But, hey...the rest ain't nuttin' to snivel at either :o)
