Quality of Life

Beautiful Sunday
Birds outside singing their songs
It’s time to rise and.

Little Chihuahuas
Waiting for breakfast downstairs
First they must go out.

He remains in bed
Does not hear the birds singing
He’s lost most hearing.

Hungry for breakfast
He won’t eat has no taste buds
I force another smile.

He reaches for water
No saliva keeps his mouth dry
I fill his cup more.

Quality of Life
Destroyed by radiation
Keeping him alive.

I wish words of encouragement could help in times like this but I realize they rarely do. My heart goes out to you and your family. You have your faith and one another to keep you strong - ans that does work.
