As long as I retain my feeling
and my passion for nature/life,
I can partly soften or subdue my
other passions and resist or endure
those of others ...

Is being germane,
Or respected,
Or a topic of controversy,
Or a firebrand,
Or an example to be fashioned after
(In a world of users and givers)
Carry a greater advantage
When the last winter draws near?

Can I love you more than I love me?
Can I love me the way that you love you (?), or
Is it we both tolerate only a second rate caricature
Of someone we thought WE were supposed to be
And then judge what we do in light of them?

If truth be told,
I began in convergence
Just like you,
A divine revelation, (perhaps) or
A sperm lucky enough to find the egg,
The passions of MALE and FEMALE merging,
A momentary lapse of morals
(Possibly)
Finding a kind of fruition,
Without scrupulous filtering,
Or evolutionary impediment;
Or something more cryptic
To equivocate things
Even more;

I (we) became something unique,
BIRTHED
Just like you,
Against all odds
And all wars that
Raged against possibility.
I became me
(In a world of individuals)
Endeavoring to be apprehended,
IN SPITE OF all pitfalls and blackballs,

Ever grappling to realize
A consummate expression,
(Whether accepted or not)
Another ego espousing humility;
A feathered idealist treed in a system
Repudiating mans despairing struggle to
Be more than just a hollow sound in a global
Village of meez and yuze vying to one up
The swarm of prigs all maneuvering to
Lord it over everyone around them
(You know who you are)

And on and on it goes,

In this world of friends and foes,
And regardless where the river flows,
And despite who thinks the flower is wilted,
I have found this one concept unfeigned,
That until my leaf falls from the tree,
Eye will continue being me

This is one of my favorites from you, Richard. I love the way it flows, and I enjoy the honesty in your writes. Throughout this, there were moments that felt intensely classical. Great writing:) Love and Hugs,
Sheila

Sailing the perilous voyage of "me" through seas of indifference, confusion, etc. is always heroic as your poem is.

When you get your dander up you let go and the depth and repercussions of your intent can be felt in your readers. I love the YOU. Never change a hair nor a step and keep poetisizing from your box because a whole bunch of us are listening.
I am saddened by the death in your family. My prayers are with you all. I have a hand over my heart where my father and mother still beat within me.I would regret if it, too, that beat left.
Blessings and love,
Susan

Blaming or championing the lucky sperm which fought the battle and found the egg to give each of us our particular life has often been a way out of certain situations, but in this case, and because you seem to buck the odds at all cost, you took it in another direction. Expounding on the do you love me more than you love yourself is a scary tactic, but one that real men (or fools) tackle from time to time. It is enough that in certain time they would burn you in effigy, that is if you were lucky, they might just burn you. Still, that is the crux of your scandalous, maybe even defiled-inspired poem so it must be addressed. And address it you did in your always inspiring and in-depth pursuits. In the words of that great wordsmith oof a bygone era wwho was almost the equal of you in these matters, "Some things are better than sex, and some are worse, but there's nothing exactly like it."

I have pinnapple juice for the CM :)...Totally Groovy Pic Richard!! :)
but also knowing the answers are not in the bottom of empty
Richard, as I am sure you know; your words are always so beautifullly dipped inside emotion
& the truth of your journey, the beauty & the challenges
your heart a fertile field of the beauty you bestow within your poetic offerings...

Eye think U very clever, but will she understand? will you understand? will the mirror on the wall tell the truth? or it will be all a "momentary lapse of morals without scrupulous filtering"?
If you are thirsty...I have a bottle of Captain Morgan with your name.
