Shadow Play

I love the shadows a dying day sketches.
Some are in ink and some are  in pencil,
but the ones I like best are suggested
with charcoal.  Smudges are creating
subtle movement.  By varying pressure
and thickness, our artist makes certain
small white lights surprise.   Some
shadows appear to have lace appliqued.
The effect is both primitive and avant
garde.  Just when I think I have them
figured out,  the shadows stretch to
cats getting ready to retire for the night.
I come close to running off the road.
Ugly wires are now a shining copper
that brings out the blacks, grays, blues,
and browns in feline fur.  I almost keep
going when it's time to turn off.  When
I get home,  I tilt the window blinds
so every last bit of light and shadow
can come in and play
.

Skillfully executed, a thing of beauty. Also noticed wonderful use of line endings.

Agreed Pea...very unique and very playful...I love the reference to the cats.

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and who love you, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your den sister, Barbie.

This is the time of day when light becomes the electric impulses that spark that part of our brain that houses our imagination. How wonderfully you have taken that plain sketchpad and beckoned those last moments of beauty to play upon it. Stunningly beautiful work, Pea.

Take care,

Pea,
For the rest of us, it's difficult to write this well, the control not only of the imagery but of the feeling, the unsaid as poignant as the expressed, and as ever the effortless fluency of mind and phrase.
