The magic of the dream is only exceeded by the magic of the dreamer...

By: Fee

I wrote your name in beach sand today

Sang a song of our love to the breeze

Pictured your smile to a morning sunrise

Returned your wave to evergreen trees

We walked hand in hand on the seashore

Laughing and chatting just us two

I picked the last wild rose of summer

Braved the thorns just to give it to you

I promised I’d love you for ever and ever

’til the waves no longer washed the shore

You whispered tomorrow is tomorrow

And kissed me like you once did before

Awoke to that alarm clock screeching

I awoke not knowing where to begin

I wrote your name in beach sand today

For in my dreams you let me come in…

I was enjoying the delicious romp through this one, Felix - but then gutted by the final verse: especially that last line, which is a real kicker!! You took me from carefree, joyous commitment to a crestfallen, crumpled dashed hope in a breath... You are master at these poignant ironies and lovers' knocks, so perhaps I should have seen it coming; but such are your powers of evocation and keeping your readers held breathless in the moment that I wasn't even looking towards the final line - and floored when I got there! The mark of good writing! :)) Lovely work as always, xx

One might want to silence that clock! Unplug it or something.
As always Fee your words are perfectly placed and the dream never ends.
