Sandcastles On The Moon revisited

A mothers watches her children playing

Often never saying the words

One child stood alone today

While all the other children play

He plays in the sand today

A mother is lost in words

It’s not in what he’s saying

Tides roll in without a thought

While one little boy still sees the moon

He can’t hear the children playing

Just feels the sand along his hands

And the sun may shine bright today

While the other children are playing

He makes sandcastles on the moon

Today a mother watches from afar

As her son looks up at the star

He knows very well it’s soon

One grain of sand times many

Someday he’ll reach his moon

The other children laugh and stare

He holds the hopes and dreams of many

Mother should I take you to my moon

Will you help me build my castle?

You need not talk for I wont hear

I want to show you the sands of time

There are other children like me

From our sand we build a castle

Our castle rests only on our moon

A mother watches the other children play

One boy waves his hands across the sand

On this day he pointed to the sky

Today an angel sat beside her son

And all the children stopped playing

Please don’t be sad momma if I don’t come home

An angel gathered his handprints in the sand

If you can dream mother, I’m not that far

Just a note for those that are tracking Byron (Brian) Holleman, aka Angel Michael. He went home to be with God on 12/27/09. He did not get to write his novel or to my knowledge any more poetry as he went into the hospital shortly after posting this poem never to come home again.

Rest in peace dear brother with Mother, Dad, and Shawn.
