Strolling through the woods with my wife,

A snowy white December day, towards dark;

I spot a lone rabbit, perched under a pine tree,

A series of childhood memories begin to spark:

The old wooden cottage

Grandpa lights the wood

Its now, Christmas Eve

That fire sure smells good

Soon, we go for a walk

Grandpa, Mousie, and me

The forest soon comes alive

My heart now filled with glee

Sparkling snowflakes flutter down

Red cardinals in the white trees

A magnificent white-tailed deer

The smell of pine in the breeze

We now decorate our tree

Its right out in the yard

I sure am tired right now

That sure was fun but hard

Soon, we all rush back inside

Delicious hot chocolate for me

Christmas cookies, for all of us

Even our lovable old dog, Mousie

Then Grandma shoos us up to bed

But little Mousie and I cant sleep

So we rush to the upstairs window

About midnight, just to take a peek

In the window, we see a wondrous sight

The animals have gathered round the tree

It seemed they also knew it was Christmas

Which makes this a magical Holiday for me

The next morning I asked my grandfather

If animals really know its Christmas Day

Well, I saw what you and little Mousie saw,

So, definitely Yes, is what Id have to say.

Strolling through the woods with my wife,

A snowy white December day, towards dark;

I soon spotted a rabbit, perched under a pine tree,

And a most delightful set of memories began to spark.

2009, Mr. Ed
