A Woman Like you

Beauty is not only skin deep!

What can describe a woman like you?

How about courageous?
You are beaten down mentally.
You are told to give up.
You are advised to give in.
Yet, you stand up and say,
“None of you can have my mind!”

How about intelligent?
Eyes are rolled because of your lack of ignorance.
You are ridiculed for seeking the truth.
Manipulation is used to try and blind you.
Yet, you open your eyes and say,
“I am a lifetime learner!”

How about ambitious?
You are ill-informed that you “do too much”.
You are told, “Girl, accept who you are and quit trying to be more.”
Hurtful words are used to get you to “stay in place.”
Yet, you jump up with energy and say,
“I am a go-getter!”

How about angelically beautiful?
How many hate-filled expressions have your received,
Telling you that no other man would want you.
If only for sex?
Yet, you look in the mirror and say,
My dark skin is smooth to touch,
My eyes and mouth…flawless.
My body, indeed, well defined!

You are God’s Creation!
A Proverbs 31 woman!
Everything you touch is blessed!
You are more precious than the purest pearl!
You are worth more than a flawless diamond!

What can describe a woman like you?

Beautiful African Flower.....

Thank you all for your reviews! I agree Cela. This could be applied to all women and I hope it inspires any woman who needs to feel encouraged.

Tony, I have been hurt just the same as most. This piece was inspired by a group of Black Women that follow my blog/articles that I write on a different site. This site specifically promotes and educates the black woman and discusses issues in relation to the black community and family.

Women have been put down and are still being put down, regardless of color. A woman must work much harder than a man to maintain and prove herself. Great poem of the situation.

A lovely poem by a lovely woman. I think you had a rough past but I am happy to write, you are doing very nicely indeed. I am in your corner, Victoria. I hope you're in mine.

GOD BLESS
Tony
