I saw a bat
Upon the grass,
I went to look,
The sun was high.
I nudged a bat
Upon the ground,
Bat-face looking up,
Wings a’ tuck.
I touched a bat
With finger soft,
Cat-hood killed,
Just recently.
I fanned a bat,
With finger pads,
Its membrane soft,
Recently dead.
I looked at bat,
Bat couldn’t see,
Me looked at bat,
Bat looked at me.
I looked at bat
And wished bat had lived,
Bat looked at me,
Where I couldn’t see…

nice, a weird sense of humour in it but also eerie,

I looked at bat,
Bat couldn’t see,
Me looked at bat,
Bat looked at me.

great, nicely styled writing.

I like the connectedness of these words: bat looks at you looking at it looking at you. =] Kinda like looking into infinity ... until the light goes out in those eyes. ... see what you made me do? You always do that. Can't write a simple poem, oh, no. You write so sparingly, but with POWER in that pen of yours. Get to thinking, what does she mean? Does she mean this, and why? Or that, and how did she come to that conclusion? What is the underlying message in these lines?

Enjoyed reading this one, Erin, although bats give me the creeps. Ever since my brother found a dead one in a car he used to have. Now will take Robin Williams' 'Batty' in Ferngully. He's cute! LOL Well done.

(((HUGS))) love and Merry Christmas!, Karla.
