I was just thinking...we change...and thank God we do. But what is really wonderful is the fact that God does not change. Let me explain; as many of you know, I am presently homeless and I was just reflecting on something... I can recall a time in my past when I was going through a bad situation, but whatever else might have been going on at that time...I did have a roof over my head that was my own. Still, in spite of this, I was obviously very distressed. Today, I am experiencing an entirely different situation; I do not have a place to call my own...I reside in a shelter and there are many other personal issues that I am facing, yet I am not as stressed now as I was then. Now, please understand, there is no way in the world that I can say I am not very concerned about my present situation, indeed, this wouldn't be the truth... but...I can testify that I do not feel now as I was feeling then. In fact, there is this inexplicable peace within me...a peace which attests to the fact that while traveling on our Christian Journey we do 'grow' in Christ. Situations in life will surely change but Almighty God...He...never changes. I am so grateful to our Blessed Redeemer that I am not feeling the 'weight' of my circumstances as I was many years ago, otherwise, I would probably be in a straight jacket by now...or would I have been? The difference between...Yesterday and Today...what a mighty God we serve!

-Yesterday-

I am stressed out and depressed

I know God is with me...but still

I can't get no rest

I am being hurt

by those I thought 'my own'

I want to hit back...I want to hurt

...Yes! I do...!

Even though I know...I'm not alone

But the indignation of actions

got me feeling kind of low and...

Oh...I just don't know, really

I just don't know!

God help me! Help me please!

just take me through this 'squeeze'

I read You hold all my tomorrows

Heal my disdain...now!

Lord, please heal this sorrow!

-Today-

I should feel...hopeless and

alienated even...persecuted

I should feel oppressed

and depressed...somewhat regressed

But here...in this place & time...I feel

His presence...

It permeats the air...I am tranquil and...

despite the 'struggle' that I'm going through

I am covered with His cloak of peace..

...His presence...

It emits an aroma of sincere love...

whereby...all the pains...

of the past... present and future

...are soothed

I am still...and cared for

I am touched...and filled

I am alive...and well

...His presence

Joyce,
Very well written. what a heart you have, to still keep going strong despite your present situations. I think of all the Haitians that are now homeless, yet you see them singing to God. That is having true faith. God bless you, dear sister in christ.
