Under a Street Lamp

From across the street I watch.
A vision through a window framed.

With your hands in your pockets
You stand under a street lamp.

Illuminated by a halo of yellowish light.
An angel surrounded by impenetrable darkness.

My throat catches. The moment surreal.
I stretch forth my hand, with finger tips to cool glass.

A car pulls up and words are exchanged.
A door is opened. The spell is broken.

Your body now sold. Did you sell your soul as well?
Or is it kept hidden, Illuminated by street lamps at night.
