Ghost in the walls
© Jaimey Perham 02/17/2010

The sounds from the walls interrupt my thoughts
The paranoia from the drugs haunts my heart

The electronics around the room beats to their own drum
My mood is manic from all the Jamaican rum

I step outside in the snow to get away from it all
I slip on the black ice and have a nasty fall
Blood pours down my face, the wound open and sore
Pain throbs deep in my brain to the very core

The ambulance rushes me the ER
I hear the paramedics tell the surgeon who answers the call

They stretch my body out across the operating table
A sharp silver needle punctures my hard skin like soft paper
Sending medicine fluid that breaks the blood vein label

I blackout out from the sleepy drugs for many hours
Drift off into never ever land, a deep trippy colorful coma
Awake to a bright brilliant light from the dizzy dream state coda

However after patching me up, to my surprise, something is still very wrong
Not with my body, but rather with my conscious mind, a shattered broken song

That striking reoccurring memory of the ghost in the walls
Still lingers on in my traumatized mind, and bothers my fragile soul

So I leave and check into rehab to fix that evil voice in the hall
And final silence, and say goodbye to that ghost in the walls
