Wishing Well

Forgive me
for my jealous intent,
my emotions were more
than my soul could stand.

My feelings flourished
beyond boundaries,
and I fell into a wishful dream.

I tumbled
into the empty well of love
and loved within
the walls of my world.

I loved beyond my dream
when you appeared,
offering me
the shallows depths of you heart.

We touch beyond words,
sharing intimate moments
of hidden desires.
My feelings for you swelled,
filling my well with hope.

But yours feelings changed
as reality's light revealed
you were standing on the outside
of my wishing well
and I was trapped within
the walls of hopes and dreams.

You promise to sit upon my sill
to befriend my gentle heart,
and to love me from a distance
as if I were a work of art.

I am what I am … a vessel of desire
quiescent to fulfill the needs of others,
quenching their thirst with a cup of hope.

I am what I am … a wishing well.

(Make a wish….and fulfill your hearts desire.)

I have already commented on the beauty of this masterpiece a million times in my heart. Nothing has changed and it still inspires as the day it was written.
