A Fine Nose Indeed

A ladybug landed on my nose today
So startled was I
Wasn't sure what to say

So I crossed my eyes
The better to see
This wee little creature
Staring back at me

Well...hello there how do you do
Are you looking for someone
Or just passing through?

I was following my friends
They've gone to your garden
But I needed to rest
So I beg your pardon

For disturing your nap
For making you lurch
But this huge protrusion
Seemed a fine place to perch

It's called my nose
A fine one indeed
You may rest at your leisure
As long as you need

That's quite a kind offer
But I must get there in haste
Could you give me a send-off
I've no time to waste

What could I do?....
Not a thump nor a swat
It had to be quick
But a thought I had naught

Then right out of nowhere
Came a strong breeze
Bringing swirls of pollen...
I was feeling a sneeze

This might be it !
From my nose she would launch
Right to the garden
In time for their brunch

A gasp and a shudder
An ahhh and an ooooh
She was lifted in flight
With my mighty cah-CHOOO!

Good-bye my friend
I wish you God speed
It's been so nice to nose you
Sooo nice indeed

what a great intro to your works, such a breath of fresh air truly, ..so much of my writing holds grey weight, so to read something of such color and life is bless'd, and of all the garden creatures that grace our blades the ladybug happens to be my most favored, very cool indeed.

Pat,
How very ingenuis of you to write such a delightful poem. It is pretty amazing how the simple things in life can trigger our creativity.

Very good. I've never had a conversation with a ladybug before. Now I know what I'm missing.

You pleased me no end with this delightful poem and how I felt I was that little bug in your descriptive words but then I could not enjoy the laughter this poem gave me to end my night. Wow, this is my kind of poetry.
