My grandmother told me
About God when my father died.
When I was six held on her knee.
I still hear her as she sighed.
Dad was now safe from harm
No reason to be so sad.
No real cause for such alarm
For Heaven wasn’t all that bad
My father would never be sick again.
Although no longer in my sight
He would never feel any pain
And he would hear my prayers at night.
The comfort in a small boys heart.
She made everything seem alright.
I knew we’d never be apart
For he could hear my prayers at night.
She told me now to be a man.
To help my Mom in her time of sorrow.
She told me that God has a plan
And on God’s wisdom I had to Borrow.
On that night she held me tight
And prayed for God to make me strong.
The start of faith, a flickering light
Yes Jesus loves me was her song.
The power of prayer proven right
As I prayed each and every night.
Always keeping God in my sight.
This woman’s prayer my guiding light.
This seed of faith in my heart.
Planted by her shining light.
It gave me strength to do my part.
Praying to my Dad every night.
Many times I would grow weak.
Fall on my faith to move along.
Through it all I heard God speak.
As He helped to keep me strong.
Now my life draws to an end.
My body weak but my faith is strong.
This message to you I have to send.
This shining light to pass along.
All things in life will pass away.
Except acts of kindness you give out.
These are treasured everyday.
Stored in Heaven there’s no doubt.
Faith in your heart can’t be lost.
Only shared with others along the way.
Faith can’t be bought at any cost.
I share it with you here today.
My faith to you I give today
I hope you receive it in your heart.
Let God rejoice and have His say
As you go out and do your part.
