Many a cool morning I have sat upon the deck of Seagull Cottage in St. Andrew's by the sea, New Brunswick, and dreamed of all I beheld........

The rising sun greets a quickening breeze,
Crested waves on a restless sea,
Gulls float upon the salty air,
Chanting echoes across the water,
A feathered recital just for me!
There’s a nip in the salty air,
That quickly cools my coffee mug.
But I am caught in the spell,
For the view from this deck is entrancing!
A neap tide has claimed the beach,
Leaving no trace of my footprints in the sand.
With shuttered lids, I inhale deeply,
And my thoughts unravel.
The hiss of the tide against the shore
Is Neptune’s whisper!
This moment is timeless, and I am free.
Weightless, I soar with the seagulls,
My warm fleecy blanket floating behind me,
Like a superhero’s cape!
O’er the waves we soar,
Below us, fishermen ready their gear.
They don’t even notice me,
Or hear my laughter that intermingles
With the seagull’s songs.
Warm sunshine caresses my face,
And as I open my eyes, I smile.
For the tide has ebbed, and my dream has vanished!

A most enjoyable dream indeed! I find dreams of flight to be one of my favorite morning, "git yer ass out of bed!" procrastination techniques, tho mine usually revolve around green mountains and swooping the tree tops. Patrick

Wow, what a fun write. I can smell that air and the anticipation of what I'd find on that beach when the tide recedes. Won't be long now, Anna. I'm going to find a big red one this summer!!
Hugs,
Maggie

There is something about watching the sea and of hearing the movement of waves as they clense the shore then roll back into the sea. Like the hypnotic flickering of the flames of a fire in a fireplace. Well spoken, Annabel.
