Sent home, not for fighting (but
in this case, I think they should
have). Not for bullying (but in
this case, these were the ones
singled out). Sent home for not
getting in the spirit of the holiday,
for daring to wear the red, white
and blue of American pride ---
what's wrong with this picture??
Oh. Forgot. The United States
doesn't belong to U.S. anymore:
never have I seen such division.
We're too afraid to stand up and
say, Enough. We're too afraid
of offending. Bet our forefathers
are rolling around in their graves.

|I agree, Karla. We can't even generalize about soccer moms anymore without extreme results. I guess we will have to tiptoe into the future;)

|Political correctness has a way of defeating its own object and is tying us all up in knots. It is certainly not bringing the harmony, equality and respect that in our naivity we might assume it was created to do, but is seemingly curbing civic freedoms more than it is liberating them, particularly where religious idealogies are concerned, hence creating problems rather than solving them. Politics and religion are not good bed-fellows... politics and grace even less so! You can't legislate grace, but it is the only thing that will cause one man to bow to another in an attempt at rapprochement. We are all rolling around in agony as a result... let alone the dead! Keep rockin and rollin, Karla... xxx|

|Karla, the business of politics is a grimy profession that seeks power for a few at the expense and happiness of the majority -- we are witnessing such an event today in the world -- far too few attempting, and partially succeeding at exerting their political might upon the many -- it will end -- we, the majority, will right this scenario before much longer -- elections will begin to oust those seeking un-American policies -- Happy Mother's Day to you my dear friend -- may peace and love be always with you -- Jon Michel|

|It is high time for all of the world to be one; the prophets (Jesus included) have preached of this "brotherhood of man" in love and peace for this planet for eons. It is sad that humanity has evolved so little in that direction. Thank you, Karla. Amour et paix, ton ami de la C-B, Canada,

|Obama. He decided to leave his friends and try to make new ones in Africa, the Mid East. He insulted Britain, which Clinton is trying to repair after the crash. Bullied Europe, upset Asia and worse of all, upset many of Americans.
You are right, we don't look to America anymore. Like Russia went in the 80's America has gone a similar way. It is not the peoples. But a President that is the laughing stock of the world. In Kung fu we are told never to shake hands with a man who has tried to defeat you. And it is true, when you offer a hand shake he'll stab you. Obama is out there like a naive idiot. Thinking that the semi black colour of his skin is a ticket to be loved by everyone and forgetting the nations who stood by America. I really do not understand him, unless he hates America.

|We are seeing America converting into a cauldron cooking an inedible soup. All in the name of appeasement?
We should say sorry for been in the way of their bullets?

|It is outrageous. Cinco de Mayo isn't even hugely celebrated across the border... it's just ridiculous. The more politically correct we become, that more incorrect our politics in all environments.
A friend in Peru once misquoted Pres. Kennedy as having said: "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for other countries." That's her reason for loving the good ole U.S.A. The same person thought "USA" stood for "united socialists of America" going by today's standards, she'd be just about right. --Charlie

|God bless America. The clown that the unenlightened voted into the office of the presidency is tearing our wonderful country apart... Never! Never in the years of my life have I seen us so divided. Now I say, "God save America!"

|My God, I was going to write on this very same thing today too! You know your country's in trouble when you can't wear your own colors anymore. Now I hear a bunch of these scum-bag students have marched on the administrators demanding the kids who wore the USA shirts be reprimanded. You're right. Enough!! And you know what, I support Arizona for doing what they're doing taking matters into their own hands. If you're for "illegal immigration" and unmitigated flooding of our borders of poverty-stricken hordes coming here for free goodies, then, get the "F" out, as far as I'm concerned. Okay, that's my rant. Sorry. Thanks for covering this.|

|Amen, Karla. And very well said.
I've been saying it for years, but it fell on deaf ears.
One of my favorite sayings regarding the direction the U.S.A. is going is proving to be all too true.
"REAL" AMERICANS, BUY AMERICAN !
Ban the imports and save our country. Simple, stupid economics.
Hungry? Oh well, one can always eat their Toyota. Can't they?

|It is not just the USA that is feeling a division of souls but other Western countries as well as our morals, our values, our charity is being taken advantage of and used against us. Is there an easy answer or solution...sadly I see civil unrest in the years to come unlike any the world has seen...pacifists will only stay pacifists until they lose the right to be such.

Most poignant and sad poem. Too many things going on, nothing getting done. And as I read the tag on most of my clothes, not one says "Made in the U.S.A" Where did we go? Fantastic write.

|You're absolutely right.
There are some wonderful groups out there who are fighting to keep America in the hands of American patriots and to keep this a capitalistic economy. Thank God, there are those who are fighting to overthrow such blatant disregard for what the American people want.

|THE 'BODY' OF AMERICA IS DIVIDED AT TIMES...BECAUSE WHATEVER AREA WE SPY INTO...THERE IS ALWAYS SOME SORT OF 'DISCORD' GOING ON. BUT, I DON'T FEEL THAT THIS SHOULD BE CONCLUDED AS A 'PROBLEM' BECAUSE...IN ANY GREAT NATION... THERE ARE GOOD AND BADS THINGS THAT HAPPENED IN THEIR HISTORY AND EVEN IS HAPPENING IN THEIR PRESENT TIME. THIS IS WHAT OUR FOREFATHERS LAID THE GROUND WORK FOR...THAT WE SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT AND CAPABILITIES OF 'SOUNDING' OFF WHEN WE DIDN'T LIKE SOMETHING...FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS OURS...FREEDOM OF THE PRESS IS OURS...FREEDOM OF RELIGION IS OURS...FREEDOM! FREEDOM! FREEDOM! LET US NOT FORGET THAT THIS IS WHAT OUR COUNTRY IS ALL ABOUT. YEAH...WE GET MAD AT THE POLITICIANS...AND WE TELL 'EM SO!...WE GET MAD AS SOME RULES AND REGULATIONS THAT JUST AREN'T RIGHT...AND WE TELL 'EM SO!...WHATEVER IS ON OUR MINDS...WE TELL 'EM SO!...BUT...LET AN ENEMY OF THIS GREAT NATION COME AGAINST US...SEEKING TO DESTROY US OR TO TRULY 'DIVIDE' US... AND IT IS THEN THAT YOU 'SEE' THE UNITY OF AMERICA! (I AM, OF COURSE, RECALLING THE TWIN TOWERS CATASTROPHE). WE ARE STILL ONE KARLA, AND LET NO ONE THINK THAT WE ARE NOT. YES...WE ARGUE AMONG OURSELVES, WE GET MAD AND WE HURL SLURS AND WE TAKE SIDES...BUT... WHEN IT REALLY COUNTS...WHEN THERE IS A NEED FOR UNITY, IT IS THEN, WITHOUT AN INKLING OF RETREAT, WE 'BAND TOGETHER' AND ARE ONE! SURE...WE GET REAL 'SMELLY' SOMETIMES, BUT WE ARE STILL...THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. WHEN I CONSIDER THE CONDITION OF SOME OTHER COUNTRIES, I THANK GOD THAT I AM AN AMERICAN AND I AM PROUD OF MY COUNTRY, WITH ALL ITS IMPERFECTIONS...MY COUNTRY, MY HOME. THANKS FOR SHARING KARLA...AND I KNOW YOU LOVE THIS COUNTRY AS MUCH AS I DO...PROBABLY EVEN MORE, BUT I JUST FELT A NEED TO UPHOLD THE RED, WHITE AND BLUE...NO MATTER HOW TATTERED OR TORN IT APPEARS TO BE. GOD BLESS AND LOVE,
