the world shifts and sifts, and the grains slip through those tiny holes that is reality...

The beach, where I find peace.
White expanse of never dormant grains.
Here you never own, but only lease.
And it can all slip away like early summer rains.
And yet this is its appeal.
This is the magic that attracts.
Because it is never quite solid real.
And those are the natural facts!

So I love to walk upon the sand.
It slips in squishy waves 'tween my toes.
No more feeling quite so grand.
And no more comfort ones mind knows.
Than that stroll on granular ground.
Than the background call of the tern.
And with the sky and sea all around,
This lesson so soft to learn.
