The photo attached is one of me and my mom in 1957

The following is for my late Mother Elizabeth Wilson who passed away before my eyes in 2001…yet it is also for Moms everywhere. One can never underestimate the power that a Mothers love carries. If you as a man or woman are blessed enough to still have your Mom, then waste no time in your efforts to tell her how much you love her.

A Mothers Love

***************************************************************************

When I think back on my Mom, I think of how she loved me unconditionally. She was only sixteen, a child in her own right when I was born. With a God given gift she was able to instill values that transcended the number of her years, and sowed a seed that would, and still walks amongst the halls of blessings.  My Mom, Maggie Elizabeth Walsh was raised on a mill hill in Greenville, South Carolina and lived a very difficult childhood. She never finished High school, but graduated with honors from the school of life. Her ordeals and struggles were lessons that one cannot get from a book. Her eyes were soft and kind and her looks were those of Elizabeth Taylor in the old movie, “International Velvet.”   She has been gone now nine years, and not a day goes by that I think not of her and of her influence on my life.

This Sunday we are to honor our Mothers. Though mine does not walk in the flesh anymore, she will forever walk with me in my spirit.  Thus if you should but be blessed by God to still have “Mom” in your presence, then love her everyday with the love that breaks all the boundaries of time itself.  For our life, this journey is a short one, and no one can replace the love of a mother. They give, they love when at times we all seem, or act unlovable.  Their hearts are pure and unblemished by our acts of separating and growing up…their love for us never dies.

To this day, and in my mind’s eye I still see her admonishing me. I hear her voice as she calls me by all three of my names when I was in trouble, “James Allen Wilson, you get in here this instant”. Memories of love are but the black and white negatives which create an indelible image on our hearts until the day that we shall meet again. God bless you Mom….I miss you so much…I wish that you were here to comfort me when my wife died last year. I wish you were here when my new love Jan almost died. I wish you were here to hold me once again when I hurt just like you did when I was a child for I will forever be your little boy. So Mom…this poem is for you.

A Mothers Love

You Mom kissed away all my hurts; you took away my pain.

You mom loved me when I was unlovable; you held me in the pouring rain.

I remember your soft kisses on my face even when I was wrong.

I smile now as you taught me in my heart where I truly belong.

You had me as but a child yourself, but now you are a child of the King.

You will never know how much I have missed you since you on that winter day left me.

I just know that if I could but turn back the hands of time, it’s your face again I long to see.

I remember so much: I hear your voice on dark starry nights, and for me you will always be.

I love you Mamma…I love you so much.
