Two sliver-thin girls
Slip by me
Passing double glass doors

It's small pieces that I see
Going home

Woman with placid face
Paperback below it
Swings by my eyes
On a bench not far from the window

Outer glass double doors
Man's face floats
Big eyeglasses refracting
Smoke from his Marlboro dissolves
As he turns away

Beneath the mezzanine
Past three executives
Dark suits melt into the wall
Two men and one woman
Erased with quick steps

Out double glass doors
Only car engines grumble
As I point toward home

This is what I saw leaving the office one afternoon.
