There is something about having a long daily commute through the countryside that seems to stir poetry in my mind. This is another one that came to me as I drive to work. I really should have something to record these poems while I drive because when I finally get to a computer I usually lose most of the great lines that were with me while I was driving.

If There Is

If there is a trick
Then there’ll be a trickle
If there is a spark
Then there’ll be a sparkle
If there is a desire
Then it’ll be desirous

If there is a hope
Then there’ll be the hopeful
If there is a dream
Then there’ll be the dreamer
If there is a day
Then let it be today

If there is a me
Then I’ll be meagre
If there is a you
Then you’ll feel young
If there is a we
Then we’ll be well

If there is a chance
Then it’s a chance worth taking
If there is a god
Then let him be of our making
If there is a truth
Then let it be worth seeking.

These lines are particularly exquisite, Joe. I see your muse rides along to work with you on most of your commutes - how lucky for her that she can express through your unique and beautiful perspective.
