To Love or Not

I tried for years to make it work
To be friends and just talk
Im tired of starting
all my letters with Im sorry
How can I repent
for things Id done as a child
Did you ever know
how unloved you made me feel
That I never talked about you
the way others kids did
To grow up feeling distant and alone
Never quite fitting in
I was always seeking your approval
But never getting it
Emotional scars run deep and long
I swore Id never repeat the past
Many mistakes Ive made since then
My kids forgave me my sins
Were more friends
than parent and child
Why couldnt we be like that
Why must things be so hard
I love you mother dear
Whether you love me or not.

Greetings pretty lady,
Somewhere I read that into each life a little rain must fall, but sometimes it's more like a cloud burst. Sorry for your pain but I know from experiance that pain makes us stronger when we are able to work our way through it. may God bless you to continue to share both your hurts and joys in this forum. Thank You - Vic

there is always some good from bad
lets look at you reletionship with your kids
indirectly your mother made you bond stronger to your kids by not showing you the love you were searching for.
but also keep in mind there are other ways of showing love and feeling love
it is possible you weren't seeing the signs she was sending because you were looking for different signs

This is a very heart touching write and one that touched me deeply. Been there. The bright side is that what we have not recieved we can give to others and it is our children that benifit.
