A young couple (friends of ours) gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Sadly, she died within the hour. Please keep Sophia, her parents (Justin and Diana) and all her family in your prayers.

This poem is written with the hope that in some small way it will help them get through all this.

Too Soon

You were conceived in love

From that first moment, when we knew you existed

We felt so blest

Knowing that you were a gift from above

You will always be our firstborn

The happiness you brought into our lives

Can never be replaced

You filled our hearts with joy – full blown

So many firsts we shared with you

So many firsts we will miss

So many dreams unfulfilled

So many angels’ wings flying you above the sky so blue

You left us way too soon

We will never know the joy

Of seeing you run, jump and play

But, we will imagine you jumping over the moon

We wanted to watch you grow

Feel your warm hugs

Stare into your lovely face

Yet, the answer to our dream was "No"

We do not understand why your life was so short

We gave you all the love we have

We looked forward to your birth

We wish you were here, physically, to love and comfort

I hold your Mom but feel inadequate

I hold your Dad but can’t remove his sadness

We hold onto each other for dear life

As we each deal with "What?’ "Why"

It is important that you know …

That we miss you so very much

That you are loved

That your name, Sophia, means wisdom

In Hebrew, it also means "The Glory of God"

That we were blest to feel you grow

We will remember you with great sadness and eternal love

That while we feel cheated, we are grateful for your life

We ask that you watch over us with all your love

That you are with Him whose love knows no Bounds

And are free to be YOU

Hugs and kisses. We love you, Mom and Dad

It is freeing, and that is so important at this time.
