... and so do I. Love you, Daddy, miss you.

Image (c) 2007, Karla Dorman

Daddy loved the 4th
of July; nothing
brought out the little
boy in him more than
fireworks.  He'd hear the
thud of mortars, laugh
when the ground would shake
underfoot and say,
'I love that sound.'  When
they would burst open
over our heads, he'd

be the one leading
'Ooohs' and 'ahhhhs,' his eyes
sparkling brighter than
those fading from view,
a continuous
display that went on
long after the show
was done.  And now that
he's gone, I can't help
but think he's got the
best seat in the house ...

What a beautiful piece of work and so timely too. Not just for fathers day but my birthday coming up July 4th...you see? I am the same way as your dad was wide eyed with excitement especially on that day for I'm a yankee doodle dandy.

As we near Fathers Day, your loving words
remind me of my Dad, who I hope will be sharing
the Fireworks with your Dad. Love, gene.

Tender and so bittersweet, Karla. And each 4th July it's a celebration of his life and love all over again... and yes, there he is with his smiling eyes and childlike wonder. This reminds me of Liv Tyler in a scene from Armageddon and touches me in the same way... think it's especially your use of the endearment, Daddy, which I have never used... Big hug from across the Pond xxx

This has touched me very deeply, can't say much more than that because I'm choked up!

Whenever he wishes he can probably see fireworks now Karla. The 4th of July is a special day of celebration to most Americans -- there is always magic in the air -- I know why your daddy liked it so much -- so do I -- may peace and love be always with you my dear friend -- Jon Michael

This one made me smile; I remember daddy enjoying the fireworks show: he was like a little kid! How I miss that ... yet daddy passed that love on to us, and you're so right: he DOES have the best seat in the house! Well penned/illustrated; brava, Karla!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin, Karen Lynn. :D
