For Pop, I wrote it shortly after he passed, but only now do I let his spirit be known to those who never met him.

Twas a man of high moral
and keepsake that lay here
Beneath this flag lay patriot
lay friend
lay youth
lay cheer
Beneath this crimson wood
lay a man very dear
husband, father, son and brother
grandfather, great grandfather, friend and mate
Here lies a man who surpassed them all
a man who was very great
Memory is whats left now
to each and every one
And what do I remember the most?
Those sparkling eyes
that lit up his face
and gave the world away
Showed his cheer and joy
his hidden youth
his wonder
and love
The smile upon his face
that lit up a whole room
transformed a sad and rainy day
into something worth living
The smile that gave away his boyish best
one of the best I've ever seen
And the kisses he'd give you
and the strong hug to hold close
I think thats what I am going to miss the most.
