We've all experienced bad days. This poem is a simply me having a bad day. Well, not exactly simple. Perhaps, most complicated about this poem is its play with time. The opening line is an alert that the poem is happening in a future tense. Specifically, in the form of a dream. The clues to the change of time is constituted by "The Day Begins" twice in the poem. One when the narrator awakens from the dream and again to acknowledge the actualness of the narrator's physical day.

Proof of my mind

lies centuries beyond my grasp.

A bottomless pit

gapes its mouth to laugh.

Volcanoes erupt to digest my unwanted flesh,

a righteously prepared offering

emitting luxurious fragrances

to those who are blessed.

Mine eyes awaken from rest

to gaze those tortmenting flames again.

Dillusion dissolves. The Day Begins....

The Morning Star blazes beyond degrees

April is gone June approaches.

Oaks bear orange leaves.

Avenues plagued with needless events of rage.

The Holocaust revives itself,

and lives on every front page.

Mad men dictate, camoflaged with pin-stripped vests.

Maniacs . . . crosses openly displayed to deliver Christ unto Death.

Protection and Law

no longer govern the lives of men,

No time to heal...

Just now, the Day Begins.
