...heart is bared and beating
bleeding on the flat of my palm
the gentle rythmic pulse seducing
lulling and luring...

where do i put this aching ardor
the pulsing shuddering fluttering
thrilling thrum of heartstrings
plucked by his masterful mind

i shove it down inside
opting instead for the adrenal rush
more content to hide from reality
masquerading as the feral lush

one heart is bared and beating
bleeding on the flat of my palm
the gentle rythmic pulse seducing
lulling and luring into deep calm

another heart is disected before me
arteries chorroded by his love
easily displayed and inspected
all raw insecurity left unprotected

side by side they stride before me
posturing posing pretending
playing the roles they're keen to
auditioning for affections they seek.
