Grandfather's Rocking Chair
Grandfather’s rocking chair has weathered the ages,
One remembers sitting on his lap as a child at the log cabin.
Where one rocked with him during different growing stages
Hearing all those tall tales and fishing bait stories a bobbin.
Casting a line among the morning haze of three generations
Of inheritance of a Captain’s rocking chair will appropriation.
Grandfather has passed it on to my dad’s proud appreciation
In a new Captain’s role teaching grandson’s nature acclimation.
Grandfather chain of command on weekend family fishing trips,
Where campfires seemed to spring alive those tranquil feelings.
And those nature walks brought those verbal learning pleasure tips
But it was grandfather rocking chair, one treasures, being so appealing.
