Imagine meeting you here
In the land of my dreams,
I haven't seen you
Since we were kids.
You were a big,
Handsome,
Husky boy,
One year older than me,
And you took your duties
As my guardian
Very seriously.
How are you?
Are you happy?
I heard
You had become a cop,
And married
Three or four times,
While I became a poet,
And have never wed.
Do you recall
The wishes
Of our mothers
That one day
We would grow up
And marry,
Joining our families
Into one big tribe?
Could it be
We have been searching
For one another
All this time?

One never knows does one? You've just reminded me of my first girlfriend. She was in grade one and I was in grade two. I can clearly remember her dark hair, plaid skirt, white blouse, red tights and black shoes. Some people you never forget. Thanks for sharing, Rebecca. Love and best wishes,

Regis
