a development of the poem 'for Florence most beloved'

 Overflowing with love untold

She pined in the big house so cold

For forty years and forty four years more

She peered through the glass of her window near the door waiting

condemned since birth to have no loyal knight or true

She strained to pierce the coldness of four and forty walls

but one cold night her window died

then pulse and warmth were piled too late on bed and floor

and at the cremation her eyes for a second woke

but could not weep or ask

we left the scene to eat a meal of fish and chips

and as we looked back at the great house

we felt it colder than ever before

Such strength and depth in these lines, Tarek, and the use of 'forty' perfect in the context, an icon of time and passage.
This is fine work.

Sadly chilling and powerful in meaning and emotions expressed. Thank you, Tarek. Love and peace to you,

Regis
