After weeks of hot, dry weather
That withered the green tree leaves
Rain has come
And an evening storm
Is finally making its way
Into our little valley.
I am tempted
To run outside
And dance
Amidst the joyous drops
That are falling perfectly
From the gloaming sky,
And to also revel
In the soft flashes of light
And the lazy roll
Of summer thunder;
But I am not stupid!
For I know
It is better
To remain indoors
And thank God
For this life-giving respite
Than to tempt fate
By underestimating
The power He has instilled
In this caress
Of Mother Nature's
Seemingly gentle

Refreshment in your words, Rebecca -- well done. Needed, after the heat wave we've been having -- temps at or over 100 degrees the last 16 days, expected to continue.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

A very enjoyable poem, Rebecca

Living in the desert where 110 is the norm in the summer, the first part of your poem was so relaxing! Seems you could give thanks to the Lord in Mother Nature's arms kissing the rain drops. Loved this poem.

Nice writing. I danced and celebrated the first night we finally had rain, but by the 14th night I could not find boots high enough to keep the water out. Whew!

Be always safe,

This is a lovely poem and flows so well!

I like to stand in the rain like a statue, and just let it wash me inside and out ~ until the thunder of course!
