What do I do?
I know
From comments made
That a good friend is hurting
But I don't know
How best to help.
It is
A somewhat dicey
And very complex
And because there is
A great physical distance
Between us
I can't just pop in
With a willing shoulder
And something gooey
And rich
To take the edge off
His pain.
I'm not certain
If an ecard
Would be
Even if
The perfect one
And flowers,
He's probably allergic
To such feminine kindnesses.
I know
What he is feeling, though,
As I've been there before,
And I know
That chocolate
And shoulders
And well-meaning words
Are but band-aids
On a gaping wound.
I have learned
That when all is said and done,
And as cliche as it seems,
Really is
The best and only healer,
But I want him to know
I am here,
And forever
His friend.

It is wonderful to know that friends still worry about other friends. Print this out and put it in a small 'Thinking of You' card. Sometimes just knowing that someome is in their 'corner' means more than flowers and chocolate combined.
