-A Recent News Story From Russia-

“He looks like he’s used up

All his nine lives, to get to us.”

Lev Kondratyev

I’ve always been fascinated

By stories about faithful pets

So many, never give up, on us

This is the most amazing one yet

A family had decided to re-locate

They were now moving, 2,000 miles

They gave their cat, to their neighbors

They left their loyal old Karim, behind

A few days after they settled in

They called, to check up on him

To their dismay, they now learned

He had soon vanished – poor Karim

They called, for the next several weeks

There was never any news, about Karim

As the months rolled on, since their move

They began to really regret, they had left him

Now two years later, as Mrs. Kondratyev walked home

She spotted an emaciated old cat, perched on her door

She and her husband simply could not believe their eyes

Karim had somehow found them, he was missing no more

Karim the Cat, now looked like he had been through hell and back

But somehow, he had miraculously located them, traversing 2,000 miles

Somehow, although he’d never even been to the place where they now lived

His steadfast determination to find them, had guided him through his many trials

“He is very happy now, and so are we.

I’ve no idea how he found us,

But I’m very glad he did.”

Lev Kondratyev

If only we humans were as faithful,

To our faithful pets, as they are, to us;

We’d never contemplate abandoning them,

And this bond would be built, on mutual trust.

Imagine the pain and suffering they must endure,

When we so callously leave them, and walk away;

How many of us, would journey this far, for them,

Animals teach me something, just about every day.

There is always a lesson to be learned, huh? Wouldn't it be nice if humans could learn the art of devotional love? Just maybe we would have less wars...

Be always safe,

Yes animals do teach us. Unconditional love is a love like no other. Thank you for putting this amazing story into poetry.

Everyone reading this, Ed, has to be humbled by the loyalty and incredible sacrifices and effort of a 'simple' animal...I think we are the 'simple' ones who have lost what it is to truly care.
Marvelous!

Faithfulness, loyalty, love, are mostly abstractions in this modern society as I see it, thank God for those who still have that humanity within them, that still recognize it's excistence in the so called lower species, ironic isn't it. Thanks Ed, for this beautiful story. Blessings! Jasmin Horst

And it is a lesson to us all, that Karim never gave up, the heart triumphing over all odds ~

I don't know what I'd do without the fluff that dashes towards me every time I come home. Bless you, you are performing a wonderful deed by stirring readers hearts ~
Namaste,

How the hell did Karim the cat do that?
Two years! Blimey, if cat's could talk. . .

It is uncanny how animals, especially domesticated house pets can find their way home. I remember an old house cat we had when we were kids that my Dad had inadvertantly taken to work in the back seat of his car. He left the window open slightly so the cat would not be too hot but when he went out at lunch to bring him some water the cat was gone. when my Dad came home from work that night, about five miles from our home, the cat was sitting on the doorstep.
