Silhouettes
by cj
like bards,
like bards,
the silhouettes of boys
leaning against
brick walls of
school house yard
smoking in long shadows
the jack of hearts
brows creased in sorrows
of strutting boys
like bards,
like bards,
shivering in the wind
all the jumping boys
now descend
their frowns so cool
wearing jeans too tight
and scarves of wool
like bards,
like bards,
the levi donned hoods
with wolven leers
crouching against
their stuttering fears
crumbling like the brick
school yard
like bards,
like bards,
the ancient wisdoms
spoken silently
with sharpened tongues
like stilettos
slice the icy sluice
slung by masters of juice
like bards,
like bards,
all the drunken boys
clenching closed fists
tearing away false pretenses
eyes of blue mists
turn now blood red
like bards,
like bards,
staving off offensiveness
clutch at slim skirts
of girls in plaid
and cardigan sweaters
coyly giggling
at the foolish boys
like bards,
like bards,
they’re famished with tweeds
and suede
grasp now at attentive praise
stuttering lovely prose
crisply shedding sheep skins
for wolven howling
like bards,
like bards,
growing old faces now
wrinkled in leather carved
traces of wisdom
strained drunken boys
because of the coldness
shivering unloved by any
of the girls in plaid
like wolves,
like wolves,
only silent silhouettes
