Dedicated To Two New Friends,

A Boy and A Dog

“The worst sin towards our fellow creatures,

Is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them,

That’s the very essence of inhumanity.”

George Bernard Shaw

There seems to be no end now

To the pets being tossed away

We found this homeless canine

Aimlessly wandering yesterday

Suffering from heat exhaustion

Starving, and so extremely sad

What we are doing to pets today

Is now making me extremely mad

Dozens of people just ignored him

Others, gave him a very cold stare

It was very evident he needed help

But most people simply did not care

He finally got some help from a boy

Who provided him shelter in his yard

This lost soul was very grateful to him

Life on the streets is hopeless and hard

This cast-a-way belongs to an ancient breed

Once upon a time, even revered by royalty

Today, we just toss him away, like garbage

I sadly wonder when we lost our humanity

We drove this deserving dog to the vet for a checkup

He is suffering from an eye infection, and malnutrition

This very compassionate boy is now taking care of him

I hope and pray this lost soul’s desperate days are done

“When a man (or a young boy)

Has pity on all living creatures,

Then only, is he noble.”

Buddha

Please Be As Noble,

As This Young Man;

Help Our Homeless Pets,

Any Way That You Can.

I wonder what is in in the American psyche that act of selflessness seems to be so rare, the acceptation rather than the norm?

This makes me think of the lad and the starfish...

Blimey, something to appreciate about the UK (I think) if we see any strays they soon get help, even if it's just the RSPCA and police called out. Any animals that are mistreated the owners will end up in the nick and prolly on TV. That said, Ed. Cats n Dogs have to go to a blue cross or animal home and new owners are vetted like adoptive parents.

Maybe Dogs owners should need a Dog license before they can share their lives with an animal?

Thank God for that young boy who chose to get involved when others wouldn't. Good on him. And shame on those who ignored him. What is happening to us????

(((HGUS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :(

Well this story has a double edged sword, it is so sad that someone would desert such an animal but so hopeful that young people still are our hope for the future.

Such a cute fellow that could live with me though I can hardly afford to live myself, I can still share something with a loyal buddy...I've been looking but its been hard, but I will find a cute guy or girl eventually...ed

Yes Ed, I will! I'll give a concert in honor of them and raise money for the local no-kill shelter. You have a wonderful poem here, and you have touched on something I have been thinking about lately which is...why is it that little children seem to be able to see more beauty than crusted over adults, oh so sophistocated adults! Not all of us of course, but I'm just saying, the little children will lead...
Blessings,
Christine

Chinese Shar Pei!!
This pup is surely missing and lost from her family Mr. Ed
I sure hope they are reunited, but in this worse case scenario
some people do abandon them...it is outrageous to think it
they love their family so much & need them...

Indeed a sad story. What is even sadder is that we treat our fellow humans with the same cold stare and indifference.
God bless,

when did we lose our humanity? do you have a foundation where we might send a few bucks now and again to help feed these critters? i've taken in so many cats, and the dog pen is always full, but as with many I too could send a little now and again to at least help defray feeding costs, dogs do tend to eat more.
