There’s a lesson I’ve learned after many years of living
Our lives touch on others be it through taking or giving
It may be a kind word shared when someone needs support
Or an unpleasant act or an angry retort
We each live each day reflecting upon our own aspirations
Cheering our successes and bemoaning our misfortunes
No man is an island but too often we forget
Our lives touch upon others, even those whom we’ve not yet met
The affect we bring can make it a friendly, conflicting or an impersonal meeting
The impression you leave could be pleasant or irritating
But be you not fooled our lives do impact the lives of others
Let us remember to be kind to these sisters and brothers
Reach out today and touch someone with an act of compassion
One that shows benevolence and loving consideration
This kindness will not go unnoticed by those who touch with our deed
It will inspire others to do likewise for love grows from a simple seed
