Please pray for my best friend. Her kitty, Melody (I call her Mel-Mel) is very sick. She's blind, may have a tumor, and thyroid and liver problems. Best friend already lost one kitty earlier this year, not ready to say goodbye to another. And neither am I. :(

I closed my heart. Already lost
one, don't want to lose another.
It hurts too much. But here we
are again ---- I don't understand.
Why does God give only to take
away? To some, she's only an
animal. She's more than that
---- she's family. She purred her
way into my lap, tail wrapped
around her, eyes closed in
contentment. And now those
eyes don't see. She's in pain ----
my furry baby. Is it best I let you
go? Maybe for you but not for
me. What do I do? It's killing me.

|Karla, I cannot add anything that has not been expressed regarding the deep sadness of this situation. Your friend is most fortunate to have you and your love and understanding to help her through the pain of this time. May peace love and joy be always with you my dear friend. Jon Michael|

|Having shared my world with many pets, I've often been in this place over the course of my life. It's like someone rips out your heart throws it into a cactus patch then stomps it flat only to have it continue beating. I ache at your words. Rebecca|

|I often wonder why God gave such short life spans to animals when they are so pure in heart and spirit. One Native American story says that originally dogs had long life spans but loved their owners so much that they offered to give up most of their own life span so that humans could live longer. I like to believe that. Karlaa, I am so sorry for your friend's cat and for your friend. I've lost so many precious pets that I don't think I'll be able to get another one when my old cat goes Home to God--it's just too painful.

|Poor little thing. I have a soft spot for animals like you wouldn't believe. Have two little dachshunds-- Claudius and Samantha. They sleep with me every night. They're part of my fabric. I can't imagine saying good-bye. But it will come. And you'll hear about it someday on AD. I can wait.|

|Its a terrible shame, even though I don't like cats too much, I still don't want to see one suffer...maybe its time to put her down, better that than her being in pain, though it won't be easy...e|

|This is one of the saddest things that we, as caring human beings go through. Our pets, for so many of us, myself included, are as our children and the loss of one is, at least it has always been for me, absoluteky shattering. So sorry for your, and, apparently, your loss, too. If the death of "mel-mel is eminent, then the pain for your friend and you will be there tomorrow or the next day or the next day and it is up to your friend, to make sure that Mel-mel is not in pain and this means making the horrible dicision that must be made.

|I have a kitty and she is part of our family and a wonderful comfort. I know how your friend feels and I am sorry she has to go through this but sometimes it is best to let them go then to watch them suffer.I know you will be there for her.

|Tough to lose them, but your friend must comfort herself with the knowledge that they "shared" that love, it wasn't one sided. Melody's life has been so much more rewarding because of your friends love and care. Now she needs to give that gift to a new soul. Nicely said, Dick|
