Fred & I just arrived back from our trip home to Newfoundland and it was beautiful. Ten years since I've been home and I took over 200 pics to use for poems. I've added one of my favorites here. This is a picture of Rocky Harbour, one of the prettiest places in Newfoundland.

The Whisper of the Silence

August 10. 2010
By Rose Marie Rideout

Through the stillness of the mist,
Flowing through the mountains,
A soft gentle whisper is heard.

It’s calling us back home again,
To the beauty of the Island,
Heard clear through every word.

Like a ghost that’s come to haunt me,
Through the years that’s long gone by,
I miss the Island & my home.

I look upon my photos,
See the beauty I’ve left behind,
Left feeling an emptiness & alone.

I saw the faces in the mountains,
Felt Angels within the air,
Surrounded by the childhood memories.

I know one day I’ll return to the island,
If for a visit, to rekindle another time inlife,
To hear the whisper of silence in the breeze.

I've been to Rocky Harbour and it truly is an amazing place to visit! The scenery in Newfoundland is rare, rustic and captivating!!! I think everyone should visit our beautiful island at least once in their lifetime .....cause there's really no place like it! Well done, Rose, and welcome back!

What beautiful, profound words, Rosie. Great poem that brings me to this lovely place that you love so much. Living where I live, I know that I will never see Newfoundland and, to be honest, until reading your words I really didn't care. But now, though I know I will never be there, I am sad about this.
